Rider Code of Conduct

All riders competing with in the Sportscover-Altura RT echelon of the BBM Cycling performance pathway ride under the Code of Conduct laid out below.

1 Purpose


The aim of this Code of Conduct is to explain the behaviours required and the procedures to be adhered to by all Team Sportscover Strategic riders, coaching & support staff in providing a professional and positive image to both the sporting community and to the general public.

2  Scope


This code and related procedures applies to all team members and anyone connected with the team and/or employed/volounteering via agreed contracts of employment & Team Sportscover Strategic terms and conditions.
It is non-contractual and can be subject to change or withdrawal at any time. The code of conduct has been agreed by the Management Team

3 General Behaviour

As a team member with Team Sportscover Strategic you have a vital role to play. As you are aware we have a number or, and interact with junior riders and members of the public. It is vital that you act in a professional and most importantly an open, approachable manner at all times when you are in their company. Junior members and supporters be in awe of your presence so it  is imperative that you understand your responsibilities as a “role model”

Team Sportscover Strategic encourages all team members, coaching & support staff to:

• Show respect for the sport – fans, sponsors, team mates, other staff employed by the club, opposition team members, officials, and governing body officials.
• To improve and maintain the high standards in the promotion and conduct of Cycle Racing.
• To uphold a superior image within the sporting industry, the corporate sector and the general community.
• To produce consistently high quality performances in all events and teams affiliated to Team Sportscover Strategic.
• To develop the skill levels, health, sportsmanship and general well-being of all team  personnel.
• Be punctual
• Be drug free
• Accept and adhere to all club directions particularly relating to behavioural expectations and dress code.
• Attend team functions as and when required
• Do not engage in any conduct detrimental to the spirit or image of the team or the sport of cycling.


Organisation Philosophy - the values that our club are committed to are:-

The following behaviour is unacceptable and may be subject to disciplinary action:
The following are examples of misconduct, which is illustrative and is not intended to be exhaustive:
• Offensive behaviour
• Alcohol abuse
• Violent behaviour
• Discriminatory language or behaviour based on gender sexual orientation, creed, disability or race
• Misuse of property belonging to the team, fellow team members, staff and officials.
• The use of banned or other substances, whether legal or illegal (especially, but not limited to cannabinoid’s, ecstasy, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines and methamphetamines)

Sponsors

Our sponsors are integral to the function of our team and are as committed to success as we are. A part of the overall commitment to our sponsors is to service their needs and promote their company and products. Within reason and as stipulated in your contract, you will be expected to fulfil appearance obligations. As representatives of BBM Cycling, Sportscover Altura RT, the Haribo Academy and our sponsors, we must at all times be mindful of our behaviour and appearance.

Sponsors Commitment
For all media appearances [TV and photogenic] and public relation exercises etc you will be required to be attired in appropriate Team and Sponsors apparel.

4 Anti-Doping & Illicit Drugs Policy

Policy Statement

Under the UK Sport anti-doping code (including ‘Whereabouts’ programme), performance drug use remains at zero tolerance while the primary focus of the illicit drugs policy is the education, rehabilitation and welfare of team members, with sanctions applied following each breach of the policy.

Key Objectives

The key objectives of the policy are:

• The health and welfare of the Team Sportscover Strategic team members
• Team Sportscover Strategic taking a lead in developing a socially responsible policy on a key social issue.
• Taking Steps to protect the image and reputation of Team Sportscover Strategic by reducing the likelihood of the undetected use of dangerous drugs by the team members and the potential death or serious health problems for team members from these drugs.

Doping Offences

This policy applies to team members registered to compete in the governing bodies’ and affiliated competitions.

A doping offence occurs when:

·         A team member tests positive to an illicit substance, this does not apply if the team member has registered the substance with the club doctor.
·         A team member refuses to be tested.
·         A team member admits to having used an illicit substance to a team official. 

For the avoidance of doubt any disclosure to the qualified drug officer would not attract medical privilege and the qualified drug officer is under a positive obligation to give full disclosure to the team amanagement

5 Travel

• As a team it is a requirement that whilst in the public arena you will refrain from using foul and abusive language and that you will behave in a professional and proper manner.
• Comply with the dress code as specified by the management team at all times.
• All team members are expected to attend post event functions as and when directed by team or event management.

7 Training

• All team members are requested to arrive punctually for the start of each organized training session.
• Show respect for all equipment and facilities. When using gymnasium or similar facilities, Replace all weights, dumbbells and all other equipment after use. Show consideration for all other users. Leave all facilities and changing rooms as you would expect to find them.


8 Dress Code

• Full Team Sportscover Strategic training kit to be worn when directed and required.
• Travel kit if and when supplied must be worn whilst travelling to and from events, unless an alternative is agreed.
• The management team with the assistance of the support staff will monitor the dress code.
• It is the team member’s responsibility to ensure that all dress standards are adhered to.

9 Punctuality

Team Members are expected to be punctual when attending:

• Training sessions: Being late or missing a training events or session, without the prior permission of a member of the management team or medical staff, is completely unacceptable.

• Team travel, meals and other designated team activities.
• Any promotion, media or community activities which will enhance the reputation of the team.

9 Media Policy

For all promotional photo’s, the kit sponsors gear, has to be worn unless directed otherwise.

Do not make statements or comments in any publication whether written, televised or broadcast which are detrimental to Team Sportscover Strategic.

Restrict comments to Team Sportscover Strategic, do not comment on opposition team members, teams, clubs etc except in a positive manner.

11 Property 

All team members must show due regard for the property and facilities belonging to others including the team, governing body, other teams and of the property, facilities and staff of other providers which the team member may use or have access to.

12 Rules and Regulations

All team members should make reasonable endeavours to be and to remain familiar with the rules and regulations and policies of the team and the governing body (BCF) and abide, at all times with these rules.

13 Conclusion

It should be generally accepted by the team members that they must take responsibility for their own actions, appreciate the environment they are in and respect who they represent- importantly themselves, the team, the team sponsors, their team mates and the BCF governing body.
